Let the Board of Visitors see — the UVA Community Says No!
Why did the Board force President Ryan out on a Friday afternoon in June? — They didn’t want to face us.
Why hasn’t the Board answered questions from the UVA community? — They refuse to talk with us.
Hidden behind closed doors, the Board has been collaborating with federal agents to radically remake and resegregate UVA. The Board has excluded students, faculty, staff, and Charlottesville residents from key decisions and usurped power through deception, intimidation, and exclusion. The Board’s actions threaten to irreparably damage the University, harm workers, students, and community members, and devalue UVA as a public good.
To stop the Board, and the takeover of UVA, we need to make our resistance visible. We need to demonstrate the overwhelming majority of us oppose the actions of the Board and will not sit quietly by as the Board, and its federal handlers, attempt to steal this University from whom it belongs — the people of Virginia and the workers and students who make UVA a world-class institution of higher learning.
